Danville City Council to vote on revamped fiber to the home project

Danville City Council listened to staff in the October 19th work session on why the fiber to the home project was essential to Danville development and future. The revamped project from the orginal $2.5 million loan to pass 2,000 to 3,000 will connect roughly 530 homes and businesses in the south Averett area. The money spent on this deployment and future projects would come from revenues from existing nDanville connections and not taxpayer or utility ratepayer funds.

Currently, nDanville connects roughly 120 City government and school buildings. nDanville also connects roughly 100 businesses ranging from large industrial customers to small locally owned businesses.

The formal vote on nDanville's progression to Phase 3- "Fiber to the Home" will come on Thursday, November 4, 2010 City Council meeting. Please attend and support the City's effort to provide our utility customers a competitive broadband playing field.
